Eur 360m Netherlands-based industrial bakery group Bakkersland is to upgrade its QAD ERP system to the latest Mfg/Pro eB2 to run its country-wide manufacturing business software platform. The firm expects to streamline financials and manufacturing activities, and achieve better control and efficiency across all its locations in the Netherlands. It also says the system will support new business initiatives, and in particular centralise common functions across its 18 manufacturing sites, while also preserving operational flexibility. The company produces and delivers fresh bread and bakery products to supermarkets and consumers throughout the Netherlands, as well as pastries for international food retail and food service markets. Bakkersland is also franchise owner of the Dutch Multivlaai shops. “Mfg/Pro eB2 will play a crucial role in our plans to revamp operations and improve customer service, realise cost savings and increase efficiency,” says Hans van den Bighelaar, financial director at Bakkersland Holding. A QAD customer since 1996, Bakkersland conducted an ERP software review in line with its plans for changes to its organisational structure in 2003. QAD’s open, standards-based architecture should enable the company to create a shared services domain for functions like financials and purchasing, across multiple languages, currencies and locations. Bakkersland also expects to benefit in terms of logistics accounting for costs associated with transport of goods, product line planning, release management and data synchronisation. And it plans to use QAD EDI e-commerce for EDI communications with supply chain partners.
