Catia used on 75% of new cars at North American International Auto Show
Catia has been used to shape the vast majority of this year’s new vehicle model introductions at NAIAS 2008 (North American International Auto Show) taking place in Detroit, January 19 – 27.
3D CAD software giant Dassault Systèmes claims that it was used in the development of nearly 75% of the 27 introductory and concept vehicles launched.
Interestingly, in the last 10 years, the number of new vehicle models has increased by 33% and Catia’s design technologies have grown at a similar pace. Dassault makes the point that its systems’ ability to help designers innovate and iterate quickly has been critical in making gains in the overall product development process.
For example, the latest release of Catia empowers powertrain and chassis designers with breakthrough auto-draft capabilities, as well as end-to-end industry process coverage from composite design to manufacturing, electrical harness creation and documentation and printed circuit-board design.
It also consolidates functional modelling support for the design of complex machined parts, extending this unique approach to more manufacturing processes.
