Energy minister visits Hoval's Lincoln factory

Energy and Climate Change Minister Gregory Barker yesterday (14th March) visited boiler manufacturer Hoval's manufacturing facility in Lincoln to mark the government's launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

The minister (pictured right) saw at first hand the manufacture of Hoval STU wood pellet boilers and met apprentices and members of the workforce. He commented: "Over 95% of heat in the UK is currently produced by burning fossil fuel, producing around half of the UK's carbon emissions - more than from generating electricity. "The Renewable Heat Incentive is the first of its kind in the world. It will help the UK shift away from fossil fuels, supporting jobs and growth in an important green industry of the future. Hoval is in a prime position to take advantage of this exciting new market in renewable heat." Hoval MD Adrian Walker (left in picture) said his company had been designing and manufacturing boilers and associated equipment in the UK for over 120 years and intended to be doing so for many years to come. He went on: "The RHI will provide an important boost to manufacturers of renewable heat technologies and will incentivise property owners to specify biomass boilers for both new build projects and replacement heating systems.
