Eriks UK has announced an initiative to move into the tools supply market. The move comes within weeks of the company formerly known as Wyco becoming Eriks UK following its acquisition by Eriks nv in November 2006 for £139 million.

The company said the move was part of a strategic plan to increase Eriks UK’s areas of business to fit more closely with its new parent group’s activities. A tools and maintenance catalogue will carry information about 25,000 newly available products. With its expansion into the tools market Eriks UK says it is meeting market demand and the requests of its customers, aiding UK industry in its drive to consolidate its supplier base and reduce its total acquisition costs. This, allied to the engineering expertise that is inherent within the business has, says Eriks, allowed the company to begin generating enquiries to gain tools supply contracts with leading UK manufacturers. Eriks UK’s Steve Bodsworth said a combination of products and brands such as Dormer, Stanley, 3M and Rocol would be available alongside quality European brands, which the Eriks Group has been supplying for years. Eriks main product categories cover: abrasives; adhesives; cutting tools; hand tools; indexable tooling; janitorial; lathe tooling; lubricants; clamping; precision tooling and storage. Bodsworth added: “This announcement is an interesting one as it is in many ways customer-driven. As well as maintenance engineers this expansion now sees us address production engineers, machine tool operators and those with health and safety responsibility. The advantages of working with Eriks UK are now touching different areas of the industrial environment.”
