At a ceremony where it picked up a major lighting industry award, Harvard Engineering – the designer, developer and manufacturer of LED drivers and control products – promised that it would remain UK-based.

Judges described the growth of Harvard as "the stand-out success story of the British lighting industry in recent years". The company last year invested in a new 40,000 sq ft facility on the outskirts of Wakefield in West Yorkshire and £3 million on state-of-the-art machinery to allow it to keep the design and manufacture of all the company's products under one roof – in the UK. Harvard is now looking to expand the facility further. Commenting on the company being named Lux Manufacturer of the Year, the company's Russell Fletcher said: "We have always designed, developed and manufactured our products in the UK, something that sets us aside from many companies, and we have no plans to move our operations abroad in the future. This award recognises this." John McDonnell, managing director at Harvard Engineering is pictured picking up the trophy with from left to right, Michael McDonnell, business development director at Harvard Engineering, Dominic Holland, a comedian who performed at the awards, and Ben Freeman from Corrigan and Bentley Recruitment, the sponsors of the award.
