New forklifts win uphill battle at machinery manufacturer

Agricultural equipment manufacturer Redrock has swapped from hydrostatic transmission forklifts to torque converter models to boost vehicle power on its hilly, Co Armagh site in Northern Ireland.

Redrock's forklift drivers reported poor visibility with the previous trucks, particularly when travelling on the road between its two factory buildings. The trucks were also struggling to climb the hill between its parts centre and fabrication facility. So the manufacturer called in local dealer NI Forklifts, which carried out a review of the site and recommended the Cesab M300 range. Redrock ordered two diesel-powered models, a 2.5 tonne and a 3 tonne, which are now in use eight hours a day, loading and unloading and taking parts to and from assembly lines. The trucks feature Cesab's 'intelligent mast design' for all-round visibility. Good sight lines through the mast mean that operators do not need to adjust their position or move their head as frequently when positioning the forks. Redrock MD Frank Flynn comments: "The trucks offer a fantastic level of visibility and our drivers find them precise and easy to control, which helps us to load lorries as accurately and fully as possible."
