The Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) is to upgrade the maintenance and logistics systems for its air force and navy to IFS Applications 7 under a contract worth $8 million.

Norway’s armed forces have been IFS users since 1997, with IFS providing an integrated solution for logistics and maintenance for aircraft and ships through the IMAS solution to the then Royal Norwegian Air Force Materiel Command in 1998, and the Sjømast solution to what was the Norwegian Royal Navy Materiel Command. The NDLO’s new system will include an interface to the SAP solution being delivered to the Norwegian Armed Forces. “We have a positive experience of the solution from IFS and look forward to upgrading to IFS Applications 7,” says Harald Bye, head of information at the NDLO. IFS aerospace and defence customers include the British, Norwegian, and US defence organisations. Commercial MRO shops and operators include Finnair, Bristow Helicopters, Aero-Dienst, Hawker Pacific and Jet Turbine Services, and IFS also provides solutions to OEMs such as General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Eurofighter, BAE Systems, Saab and GE Transportation.
