Forklift truck users are being urged to address training and safety issues as part of the Fork Lift Truck Association's annual forklift safety week, which is running this week (19-25 September).

In support of its campaign – with the theme 'More Skills, Less Spills' – the FLTA is offering free resources to truck users throughout September and October. Downloadable materials (from the link below) include: * A colour poster for display in workplaces, entitled "It's No Accident – Training Saves Lives" * A new training-themed checklist, covering employee training from hiring operators to the role of managers * A document for supervisors and managers to make them aware of legal obligations and the best way to comply * A Safety Week 2011 logo to use in letters and literature, raising awareness of the campaign In addition, the FLTA is offering all businesses a free employee safety booklet if they email a request to mail@fork-truck.org.uk. FLTA chairman Martyn Fletcher said: "Building on the success of previous safety weeks, we are ever more determined to bring down the unacceptably high rate of fork lift truck accidents. "A lack of full training is evident in almost every accident somewhere along the line, which is why safety week 2011 is targeting training on all levels – from operators to owners."
