Cypress Semiconductor improves forecast with i2’s TradeMatrix

Telecommunications and computing integrated circuit maker Cypress Semiconductor has bought e-supply chain management software vendor i2’s TradeMatrix.

The firm expects it to reduce product cycle times, provide accurate forecasts and product delivery information, and improve processes within its supply chain cycle. Robert Morse, vice president of production planning at Cypress, says: “Our current solution does not meet our changing demand fulfilment and planning needs. We needed a solution that provides fast, accurate and reliable delivery-date responses and also comprehends customers’ buying patterns so we can develop accurate forecasts.” The i2 software selected includes supply planning, factory planning, active data warehouse and demand planning. These are being targeted at the semiconductor industry because of its complex nature, characterised by highly variable demand and short product life cycles. Cypress will be implementing the new software in the Far East and United States, and will be using the same platform to create a private on-line e-marketplace with its customers and suppliers.
