Automotive flexible machining systems specialist Witzig & Frank, has selected eMPower Machining software from Tecnomatix Technologies to optimise its machining processes and implement best practice strategy across the group. Based in Offenburg, Germany, the firm will use eMPower Machining as its corporate standard for machining planning and programming. The order is worth more than £150,000 for software and support services. Witzig & Frank, part of European industrial giant ThyssenKrupp’s production systems division, hopes to use the software to help reduce the cycle times for developing NC processes for its Triflex multi-station CNC machining centres, and to optimise and verify the accuracy of the NC programs before they are delivered to the shop floor. eMPower will produce a virtual Triflex machine and a best practice database for re-use in future projects. “eMPower will help us to optimise our machining processes and save a significant amount of time and risk in evaluating and bidding for machining jobs,” says Frank Baumbusch, ceo of Witzig & Frank. “In addition, we’ll be able to implement and maintain best practice machining processes, and to store and re-use process data. This will bring enormous savings in time and money, and produce further improvements in our quality standards.”
