Glossop Cartons appointment set to boost efficiency

One of the UK’s leading manufacturers of carton board packaging products, Glossop Cartons, has further invested in its management team with the appointment of a business improvement manager in order to further improve operational efficiency at the growing business, increasing production capacity and reducing customer lead times, while maintaining output of the highest quality.

Simon Boden brings with him 35 years of packaging industry experience, most recently acquired as production director at Mayr Melnhof Packaging Iberica.As Glossop Cartons’ first business improvement manager, he is responsible for ensuring that processes are efficiency aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Said joint managing director, Jacky Sidebottom-Every:“As the business grows, both organically and via new business, it is vital that our production operation runs as efficiently as possible in order to continue to give our customers the highest quality products within increasingly competitive lead times.”

Glossop Cartons’ growth was most recently marked by the announcement of a property expansion of over 50%, as it acquired a new 2,300m2 industrial building in order to further improve operational efficiency and facilitate investment in new manufacturing equipment.

Boden’s appointment is part of Glossop Cartons’ plan to invest in its management team in order to enable further growth via the acquisition of additional industry expertise, and to allow joint managing directors, Jacky Sidebottom-Every and Brian Sidebottom, to focus on corporate strategy. His appointment follows that of operations director, Dave Bartlett, who was recruited last year.

The family firm’s customers span a diverse range of sectors, such as pharmaceutical and personal care, food and drink, vape and household, and customers include many blue-chip companies. Its products include cartons, sleeves, wallets, blister pack cards, skin pack cards, counter top and shelf displays, header and hanging cards.

Glossop Cartons has recently been shortlisted in the manufacturing and engineering category of the North West Family Business Awards, taking place in March.
