One-stop manufacturing solutions firm MSC Group has announced a strategic investment in Catia v5 from Dassault Systemes to the tune of some 100 licenses by mid-2003. The firm says it expects to unify and enhance its world-wide applications offer. MSC says it will be using PLM (product lifecycle management) Solutions from IBM and Dassault Systemes to move it up to full end-to-end web-based supply chain solutions and engineering design systems for the whole spectrum of manufacturers. With Catia v5 in place on MSC Group’s i-msc.com manufacturing supply chain portal, MSC says it will be able to dictate the manufacturing tasks and project paths, while its partners and suppliers will be able to enhance overall productivity and optimise their products and processes. It expects this to result in greater overall organisation efficiency. “The software’s ease of use and ability to handle tasks from conceptual design to manufacturing, including complex moulding, is a key value proposition in MSC Group’s reaching out to global electrical, electronic and automotive industries.”
