Air Liquide Medical Systems gets finger on pulse with APS systems

Air Liquide Medical Systems says it has significantly improved planning and scheduling at its factory at Antony, France, since installing Preactor.

The company, which manufactures medical gas systems, needed to improve visibility for the factory's supply chain, which deals with both long term planning as well as short term scheduling of work orders. Mr Domanico, Air Liquide Medical Systems' supply chain manager, says this was perceived as the key to enabling growth through improved efficiency and productivity. "We selected a combination of Preactor Graphical Master Production System (GMPS), which looks at planning based on average and long term demand, and Preactor APS 400, which looks at more detailed scheduling to best meet our requirements," says Domanico. "This will allow us to rapidly generate works orders, synchronise procurement plans with production, and make reliable and accurate schedules taking into account all resources and constraints of the manufacturing process. It will also provide better management of HR and their competences, anticipate the availability of components, as well as enabling us to simulate and compare various scheduling scenarios before finalising the most appropriate one," he explains.
