Allison Transmission – the world's largest manufacturer of fully-automatic commercial, bus and military vehicle transmissions – has appointed James Coleman (pictured) to manage its UK and Irish operations.

Coleman has worked for Allison for more than 30 years and was previously the group's commercial director for Russia CIS and Caribbean – Central American Operations. In his new role, he will be responsible for activities in the UK and Ireland, as well as the Russia CIS region. He is based at Allison's UK office at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. In his new role, Coleman will promote current and new products with OEMs and with end-users in core commercial vehicle segments. Coleman is from the USA and is relocating to the UK. He replaces Riccardo Sardelli who has left the company to pursue other business interests. He said that he hoped to work with regional OEMs on new vehicle applications for both domestic and international export opportunities, and to identify new end-users and new vocational applications where Allison products could enhance vehicle performance and total life-cycle cost. "I'm looking forward to learning the unique aspects of the UK market and working with the highly experienced Allison team here," he added.
