Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing organisation Antonov has selected Siemens PLM (product lifecycle management) software to implement joint cargo projects with the Russian JSC United Aircraft Corporation.

Projects involved include the production of the Antonov An-124 Ruslan heavy long-range cargo aircraft and the Antonov An-70 medium short take-off and landing cargo aircraft. Antonov says it intends to use Siemens PLM Software's NX digital product development solution and its Teamcenter digital lifecycle management solution, to create a centralised product, engineering and design data management system. The Ukrainian aviation organisation explains that it selected Siemens PLM Software technology following an in analysis of NX and Teamcenter. Antonov cites the technologies' open architecture and ability to integrate with multiple CAD systems as key factors in their selection. It also points to both solutions' flexibility. Antonov points to "robust functionality" in NX and Teamcenter, which, it says, enables better engineering process automation and enhances general production efficiency. Antonov has implemented a Siemens PLM Software pilot project, which has already shortened design time and improved productivity. According to Antonov, the pilot project demonstrated the competitive advantages of NX and Teamcenter, and upheld the qualifications of Siemens PLM Software's technical support team.
