Bilfinger Expands Soarnol Production Line at Saltend Park

The contract will see a construction project at Saltend Chemical Park in East Yorkshire, creating jobs in the region.

Bilfinger will be responsible for delivering several critical services for this project, which involves the construction of a new production line alongside the existing plant that produces Soarnol, a high-performance polymer used in a variety of industrial applications, including automotive components, packaging materials, and consumer goods. Mitsubishi Chemical UK Soarnol will be the plant owner.

Services Delivered by Bilfinger 

Bilfinger will deliver services such as the installation of several thousand tonnes of structural steel, fabrication of several thousand metres of pipe, new EC&I infrastructure, alongside complex equipment installation, including heavy lifts. This follows an early collaborative engagement and planning process with the client and stakeholders to ensure success and mitigate risks.

Long-standing Relationship Between Bilfinger and Mitsubishi Chemical

The work will be carried out by Bilfinger UK’s Automation and Projects business unit at Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance UK and is due to begin immediately. Bilfinger has a long-standing relationship with Mitsubishi Chemical at the Saltend Chemical Park, where they have provided maintenance and turnaround services for 20+ years. The familiarity with the plant and proven track record in delivering high-quality services will add significant value to the project.

Applying Best Practices with Bilfinger Maintenance Solutions 

Bilfinger has been applying standard best practice methodologies at Saltend Chemical Park, including Bilfinger Maintenance Solutions (BMS) and Bilfinger Turnaround Solutions (BTS), to ensure operational efficiency, reduced cost, and minimized downtime.

Bilfinger will employ approximately 250 people on-site for the duration of the contract while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations at the chemical park.
