The first WM factory tour of this year's Best Factory Awards winners took place in early December. More than 20 delegates heard how the Bosch management team implemented a world-class manufacturing strategy built on flexibility and lean assembly lines which helped the plant to win the Best Engineering Plant and Health & Safety Award at the 2013 BFAs.

The site was also Highly Commended in the Innovation and Energy & Environment Awards and the BFA judges said the Worcester site was: "a born innovator, which pioneers landmark processes and has a manufacturing strategy that is built on flexibility and lean assembly lines." Delegates also had the chance to see line-side process innovations including a friction stir welding process developed alongside the Welding Institute, find out more about Bosch's excellent customer service and take a tour of the company's outstanding training facility. The next WM Factory Tour takes place on 23 January at Autoglym, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire.
