“In order to produce state-of-the-art braking systems we must be able to coordinate our activities online. This is why we chose Enovia Portal,” claims Paolo Crovetti, IT manager for Italian brake manufacturer, Brembo. “It’s an easy to use, web-based application giving our extended enterprise access to all product, process and resource information that we need. Now our logistics teams can collaborate with the design and production teams, eliminating both guesswork and time lags.” Brembo designs and manufactures braking systems for high-end automobiles, motorcycles, industrial vehicles and Formula One racing cars, for customers such as Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes and Porsche. And as part of its aim to reduce the lead-time for brake components by 30% and help design streamline engineering processes, Brembo has purchased more than 500 seats of Enovia’s Portal software, to be installed across eight of its global sites. In the first phase of the project, Brembo added Enovia VPM to its existing Catia (3D CAD) installations at their Italian headquarters, enabling 3D design collaboration across the company. Now in phase two, the project is currently being expanded to provide the firm’s global sites with IBM’s PLM (product lifecycle management) software. This means 500 seats of Enovia Portal and 40 Enovia VPM licenses, intended to improve the management of design modifications. The third phase of the project (scheduled to begin in September this year) will see the roll out of Enovia’s version 5 software globally.
