BSC Diecasting invests £100,000 in eMerge ERP

Walsall-based BSC (Diecasting), a leading UK zinc and aluminium pressure diecaster, has invested more than £100,000 in a new ERP system, as part of a three-stage programme aimed at doubling turnover in three years.

The mid-sized company, which was just two days from closure in 2009, has undergone remarkable recovery to announce profits of more than £280,000 in 2011 and a raft of new contracts worth £2m. The eMerge Priority ERP system is the latest in a series of investments, which includes more than £620,000 in new plant machinery and £80,000 in marketing support, in a bid to break into new markets and territories. BSC managing director Les Dudley says the technology has been brought in to manage a significant increase in enquiries, and believes it will revolutionise the way customers and suppliers interact, allowing, for example, clients to place orders directly into the system, monitor production and track delivery remotely. "This system is a huge step forward for BSC and something I never thought we'd be able to take advantage of a few years ago," comments Dudley. "ERP is often seen as low priority, but in this day and age you need to be efficient, transparent and accountable at every stage of the project. I'm confident that investment in this area is going to be critical to our continued success," he adds, From the first enquiry to the final invoice, the system will manage the entire project lifecycle, streamlining operations and generating real-time accountability, he explains. Priority ERP's ability to schedule production, to optimise the use of machinery, means lower costs and greater flexibility, while the introduction of barcodes on pallets means the technology can track products as they move around the Black Country foundry.
