Datron tunes into better costs and productivity with new ERP

Communications equipment manufacturer Datron reckons it has already improved productivity and reduced costs since going live with Infor ERP SyteLine.

Roger Gillespie, director of facilities and outsourcing for Datron, gives an example: "One of our shipping supervisors commented that he had identified a serial number discrepancy, and with the new ERP SyteLine software, he was able to get the data to act on it within a few minutes, instead of the hours it would have taken our previous system." Gillespie explains that Datron has grown seven-fold since 2004, so its disparate legacy systems were no longer to keep pace. Hence the new system, which now spans the entire company and was implemented within nine months. Now, he says, ERP SyteLine helps Datron improve its business processes by delivering real-time data to users – enabling them to make informed and timely decisions. Gillespie cites improved manufacturing flow, achieved by reducing inventory levels, thanks to good information. He also mentions the solution's demand and forecasting functionality, which is helping Datron to reduce cycle times. And he praises its 'enter once, use everywhere' approach, which "reduces error-prone steps and increases user productivity".
