Coventry-based Profax (the UK distributor of the successful Japanese Asprova advanced planning and scheduling (APS) system) is implementing a system at Dyson Appliances’ Malmesbury production site, where the market leading vacuum cleaners are made. The APS will be used to optimise production planning and scheduling, also enhancing operational efficiencies and inventory control. Specifically, it will improve plastic moulding capacity usage and accuracy of delivery date commitments. It will also enable more precise quantity commitments for production assembly, allowing Dyson to manage with lower overall inventory levels. “This order establishes Asprova in the UK, as a leader in providing high speed scheduling solutions,” says Andy Ferrar, managing director of Profax. “The flexibility of Asprova, and our ability to integrate manufacturing and supply chain solutions, enable us to create significant value for all types of manufacturing and process industries.” You can see Asprova on Stand 316 at CIM 2001, Birmingham NEC 30 October to 1 November 2001.
