EDF Energy Networks plugs into SaaS-based web EDI

Electricity distributor EDF Energy Networks says it will implement the Wesupply managed B2B web EDI platform to enable improved customer service and reduced inventory costs.

Chris Matthews, head of logistics at EDF Energy Networks says it will achieve the benefits by automating its ordering processes and providing visibility to the supplier community, while keeping implementation costs down through Wesupply’s software as a service (SaaS) delivery. The company will be replacing its manual ordering systems with a streamlined solution that provides full visibility into the order cycle. Similarly, the solution will increase visibility into inbound shipment processes, which, in turn, will reduce EDF’s need to hold safety stocks. “Subscribing to the Wesupply service will mean we can collaborate closely with our suppliers. Not only will this help our suppliers to manage cost based on accurate and timely orders, but it will also enable us to provide an even better service to our customers,” says Matthews. “By improving order quality and visibility we benefit and so do our suppliers.”
