EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation has announced changes to its senior management structure in support of improvements to its delivery of business services to the manufacturing sector.

The changes are the first step in support of a programme of strategic re-focussing and business integration of EEF which will take place over the next eighteen months. From January 2008, Martin Temple, currently Director General will take on the new role of Chairman of EEF. This change will enable Temple to chair the EEF’s new main board overseeing the restructuring and development of its business operations. He will continue to lead the organisation’s effective policy and representation functions supported by the national policy team. EEF will recruit a new chief executive to run the business services operation and lead the implementation of the organisation’s new business strategy development. Alan Wood, chief executive of Siemens UK will take on the role of EEF chairman until Temple takes up the position in January 2008. Wood will undertake this in addition to his role as EEF president. Wood says: “Just as our member companies have to adapt to stay ahead of the game then so do we as an organisation. This re-organisation will enhance the range of business services that we provide to manufacturers and other customers and deliver the level of investment necessary to sustain them at a high level.”
