Few businesses plan more than a year ahead – Oliver Wight

Fewer than half of businesses asked in a poll of around 50 organisations have a business planning process that looks more than 12 months ahead.

The poll was conducted during a webinar hosted by supply chain optimisation firm Oliver Wight, optimisation technology and prescriptive modelling specialist AIMMS, and logistics solutions consultancy Districon. Just 44% said they had an integrated business planning or S&OP process with an 'active horizon' beyond 12 months. "Alarmingly," said Oliver Wight "3% of organisations are only planning three months in advance." The webinar, 'Influence Customer Demand; Optimise Your Commercial Activities Through Integrated Business Planning' looked at the integrated end-to-end supply chain optimisation solution offered by Oliver Wight, AIMMS and Districon.
