At the Fork Lift Truck Association's awards event this month, materials handling products received top billing, along with awards for apprentices and industry achievement.

The four product categories of environment, ergonomics, safety and innovation were hotly contested, with a record number of finalists. The winners were Hyster (environment) for its tyre-saving drive, Cat Lift Trucks (ergonomics) for active sway control, Mitsubishi (safety) for its Grendia overhead guard, and Linde (innovation) for its CiTi pallet truck. All received the bronze 'Archie' trophy for their efforts. Several individuals were also recognised by the FLTA for their work, including Adam Payne of Barloworld Handling (apprentice of the year), Tracy Zissler of Rushlift (employee of the year) and Paul Nichol of United Forktrucks (services to the FLTA). Peter Wooldridge of Flexi Narrow Aisle was described by the FLTA as "an innovator and entrepreneur, whose expertise – both as an engineer and as a businessman – has helped to change the face of the fork lift truck industry..." and he was presented with the award for services to industry.
