Ford produces three millionth low-carbon engine
Ford has reached its landmark three millionth low-carbon diesel engine to be produced at the company's manufacturing centre in Dagenham. The site produces over 30,000 engines a month, and has been building the small-capacity diesel engines since May 2007.
In 2013 more than 76,000 Ford vehicles sold in the UK were fitted with the low-carbon engine, and by September 2015 all Ford diesel engines will comply with the latest Euro-6 emission regulations. In the past 30 years, all diesel Ford Fiestas have been powered by engines that were built at the Dagenham site.
Martin Everitt, Dagenham engine plant manager, said: "This milestone demonstrates the strong demand for clean, powerful, yet economical, small-capacity diesel engines. This is set to grow further when we introduce the new Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo models, both of which will be available with this low-carbon diesel engine."
