Fork lift market set to grow says Jungheinrich

The forklift truck specialist Jungheinrich said today that it anticipates that the global market for forklifts will grow by 10 per cent during 2011 to 900,000 units.

The German-owned group, which manufactures and supplies trucks, stackers and order pickers reported a strong start to 2011 with global sales up by 22 per cent to 472 million euro. The company said it had experienced a significant increase in new truck sales, while revenue from short term rental and sales of used equipment was also up. Chairman Hans-Georg Frey said Jungheinrich would take advantage of the opportunities arising from the upturn and intends to enlarge its presence in Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America. Stepping up business with internal combustion engine-powered counterbalanced trucks will remain the company's major focus.
