IBM cleans up on Unilever’s purchasing

Unilever Europe’s non-production items procurement transformation project is coming under IBM’s wing, under the terms of a new support agreement.

Tony Cronin, general manager MBPS at IBM Europe, says the goal is enabling Unilever to manage its NPI spend more effectively, while maintaining business governance and process compliance. The contract builds on similar IBM implementations for other Unilever regions and the current Finance Business Services agreement in Europe. It will streamline Unilever’s European procurement system with an integrated procure-to-pay process. “Extending the global process to Unilever’s European operations will help the business to achieve significant benefits,” says Cronin. “Unilever will gain from IBM’s leadership in helping consumer goods companies adopt technology solutions in the fastest time with the least risk.”
