Idhammar Systems launches OEE energy monitor

Idhammar Systems has launched an energy monitor that provides live information on a plant's Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance.

The energy monitor can be linked up with CT meters to identify the most energy hungry plant and water and energy consumption. The monitor connects with Idhammar's OEE system providing availability, performance and quality data and providing a signpost to help manufacturers eliminate energy waste, the company said. Breadmaker Hovis claimed a 7% cut in gas use worth £400,000 a year by using an OEE management System. Bob King, former manufacturing director at Hovis and now of Premier Foods said: ""In addition to savings in labour unit cost and product wastage, we have achieved significant savings in energy usage. Optimised OEE has a hugely beneficial impact on our energy-efficiency programme which supports our environmental objectives." John Roberts, Idhammars' Managing Director - Operations comments: "The benefits of using OEE to drive economic, social and environmental improvements to the bottom line are proven. A number of production related factors contribute to wasted energy and every day unplanned production stops, slow running equipment, lack of materials and wrong date codes cause waste, not only impacting productivity, but also impacting energy efficiency."
