The group, known as Industry4Council, also discussed how to tackle local skills shortages in engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Building Regional Opportunities Through Employer Partnerships
Dubbed, Industry4Council, the group united employers from the construction, engineering, and manufacturing sectors who wish to recruit, train and upskill component individuals. The group hopes to find individuals who can innovate and grow their business to create wealth opportunity across the region.
Cross-Sector Support from Employers and Educators
The event, held at the Gravesend Campus, brought together employers, employer bodies and representatives from local authorities, colleges, universities and training providers. This new partnership offers a practical forum for employers to collaborate with further and higher education institutions, as well as independent training providers.
Led by Employers for Sustainable STEM Development
The Council will explore what can be achieved through coordinated collaboration, designed and led by employers, for employers.
Commitment to Closing the STEM Skills Gap
Mark Andrews, deputy executive principal – strategy & curriculum at North Kent College, said: “I was delighted by the level of engagement and genuine enthusiasm amongst employers, educators, and industry bodies to collaborate in tackling skills shortage challenges.”
