Infor and Red Hat deliver Infor LN on open source

Infor ERP applications are now available on Red Hat Open Source with MySQL or MariaDB, following a collaborative development project.

The news means that manufacturers can now get Infor's ERP suite on both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware solutions in the cloud, and on virtual and physical infrastructures. Ali Shadman, senior vice president of business cloud at Infor, says that manufacturing users now have a flexible solution based on industry standards that is high performing and reliable. Certifying Infor10 ION and Infor LN applications on Red Hat's open source platforms gives customers access to a broad base of other software without lock-in and provides deployment choices coupled with opportunities to cut costs, he argues. Additionally, both Infor LN and ION can now harness MySQL and MariaDB, making these mature ERP and middleware suites attractive for cloud service providers and customers with mandates open source within their IT infrastructures. "Infor wants to provide our customers access to leading innovation while reducing total cost of ownership so they can focus on enabling business processes that help drive growth and profitability," explains Shadman. "By collaborating with Red Hat, we are working with the industry leader to give our customers the choice to standardise on open standards while providing world-class applications that deliver proven value without compromising performance or functionality."
