Infor mobile platform promises better access

Manufacturing ERP software conglomerate Infor has unveiled Infor10 Motion, a cloud-based mobile platform built on its Infor10 ION integration framework.

Duncan Angove, president of products and support at Infor, states that Infor10 Motion applications are unlike current "complex and convoluted mobile platforms", providing instead "a consistent user experience, a loosely coupled architecture, and a simple and easy process for deployment". Infor10 Road Warrior and ActivityDeck are the first mobile suites – the former providing for CRM on the move, while the latter allows users to respond to tasks, receive real-time alerts and approve pending requests. "To keep up with the increasingly mobile world, companies need to empower their workforce with tools to stay informed and take action from anywhere," comments Angove. "Infor is changing the way our software is used and managed, by providing mobile development tools and foundation services that enable our customers to use mobile applications, like Infor10 Road Warrior, across the extended enterprise," he adds. Angove explains that Infor10 Motion is built with a loosely coupled architecture, meaning that its applications can plug into a range of back office systems, including ERP, CRM and supply chain management. He also says that users can expect immediate access to all enterprise data, with built in security, and with the same look and feel as the rest of the application set, whether on tablets or smartphones. The software is also 'app aware', meaning it detects when another app, such as Skype, on a mobile device might provide additional functionality. And it is also cloud-based, making deployment and infrastructure management relatively simple.
