IPS gets £250k boost from surge in water conservation

A surge in demand for high efficiency water filtration technology has seen the St Helens, Merseyside-based Industrial Purification Systems (IPS) win orders worth more than £250,000 in the past two months.

This new business includes orders from Tata Steel, Tate Gallery and a prestigious and eco-friendly development in Kingston, Surrey. IPS said that with industry seeking more efficient methods to save energy, lower production costs and increase productivity without losing quality, the reuse of water was now a high priority. Managing director Steve Cupples said: "Historically, organisations have overlooked what has been staring at them in the face. Significant savings can be made through reusing process water or having the ability to use other water sources such as sea, river and borehole, and avoid the huge expense of using water supplied by utility companies. In today's climate, both environmentally and economically, it just makes so much sense". Looking to 2012, Cupples said that IPS – having invested in the research and development of reliable high efficiency water filtration now being used in manufacturing and other industries in the UK and worldwide – would be good for the company and for water, an increasingly precious resource.
