Samsung SDS, the huge Korean IT company that provides packaged software, including knowledge management and ERP, and runs its own professional implementation and support services, formally launched its European operations at the CeBit exhibition in Germany – and introduced a series of enterprise applications for Europe. This is a very broad offering. Key suites include Samsung Contact (an intelligent messaging solution), Acube (an enterprise knowledge portal), Bizentro (ERP), and Reqube (a database query and reporting tool). There’s also WiseView (information viewer), Smart Card, RayPax (medical archiving and communications), e-Telehealth (remote medical solution), and VisionACT (an authoring tool). At CeBit, the company showcased its e-DataCenter business continuity system with triple backup via three data centres in Korea. The company has now established a network of e-DataCenters in London, New Jersey and Tijuana, Mexico. Beyond straight data protection, Samsung SDS launched associated services, including business recovery and contents delivery network, with the option of going all the way out to full hosting. And it also introduced an ‘e-learning’ system EduPort to work alongside the company’s other e-learning suites, e-campus and SSDS e-learning site.
