Taiwanese circular knitting machines manufacturer Pai Lung Machinery says that implementing PTC’s collaborative product development software has significantly improved its design and production efficiencies.

The company, which one of the fastest growing companies in the textile machinery industry, is using Pro/Engineer 3D MCAD and Windchill PLM (product lifecycle management) software, and says that together they have minimised duplication, errors and product development cycle times. Pai Lung says it has now successfully streamlined its design and purchasing processes, cut parts purchasing processes from one day to one hour and key component design times from two days to 20 minutes. “We are able to create 3D designs and deliver design-to-order services to customers and, as a result, reduce product development time dramatically,” says Makoto Du, design manager, Pai Lung. “Now, our design team can collaborate with customers to create new textile designs using 3D simulation to determine the production viability of each design. This improves both productivity and overall efficiency of the product design process. “Most importantly, because Pai Lung’s collaborative platform is based on Windchill and is well integrated with our ERP, SCM [supply chain management] and database systems, our customer service staff are able to respond to our customers in minutes instead of days.”
