Maggie Philbin is new IED president

Bang Goes the Theory broadcaster Maggie Philbin has been elected the next president of the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).

The honorary appointment has been made in recognition of her ongoing work to support and promote science, technology and engineering within education and industry. As president, Philbin will support the IED's drive to encourage and support the next generation of engineers. As well as being a well-respected broadcaster, with TV credits including Tomorrow's World and Bang Goes the Theory, Philbin is also the co-founder and CEO of TeenTech, a social enterprise aimed at encouraging young people to consider the wide range of career possibilities in STEM. She will be sworn in as president of the IED in July 2014. She succeeds Sir George Cox, who has held the role since 2010.
