MAN Diesel goes for Aras engineering process management

Marine and plant large-bore diesel engines manufacturer MAN Diesel & Turbo has selected Aras as a supplementary platform for its engineering process automation project.

Helle Georgakis, department manager at MAN Diesel & Turbo, says that the decision came down to Aras' ease of implementation and customisation facilities, which will help the engines giant to extend its PLM (product lifecycle management) and drive engineering process automation. "We needed to extend the capabilities of our PLM system and we chose Aras to assist us with a solution that is quick to deploy, easily adapts to the needs of our business and connects to existing systems," explains Georgakis. "With Aras, we have a supplementary platform for engineering process automation, and we expect that [the software developer] will give us the freedom to use and manage the software, the way we would like," she adds. MAN is working with Aras gold certified partner Minerva to implement the engineering data management extension system as part of its existing PLM environment. Georgakis says it will help drive and manage project management, change management and the like.
