Mars Petcare UK awarded class A for integrated business planning

The implementation of a new IBP programme has upped Mars Petcare's customer service levels to 99% and reduced stock levels by 15%.

Mars Petcare were looking for an IT solution to further improve the management of its sales and operations data when they discussed options with business improvement specialists Oliver Wight. Two years on, as well as achieving class A status the confectionary giant was also voted best branded supplier by supermarket chain ASDA, Mars Petcare UK Sales and operations planning manager, David Wragg (pictured) commented: "IBP standardises business processes, but it also allows you to be dynamic; it does not restrain you and that is vital in our organisation, where freedom is one of the bedrock operating principles for shaping the company's future." According to Wragg the company's existing operational structure was well suited to the IBP implementation because heads of the key functions of product, demand and supply were already in place, aiding the speed of implementation.
