The McLaren Group is to deploy SAP ERP systems in a bid to integrate its business centres, while also driving productivity and providing what it describes as a foundation for future growth.

The Formula 1 car builder has agreed a new contract with SAP that includes the SAP HANA database. Ron Dennis, executive chairman, McLaren Group, made the announcement at the Sapphire Now confrence, currently running in Orlando, Florida. "On every lap of every Grand Prix, qualifying and practice session or test run, our Formula 1 cars generate vast quantities of performance data," comments Dennis. "Our ability to process that data and act on it rapidly is crucial to creating the kind of prescriptive intelligence that enables us to transform the outcome of races," he continues. "And that need resonates through every other facet of our business. Big data is only going to get bigger." For Dennis, SAP solutions are going to help transform the IT infrastructure of the entire McLaren Group, providing an integrated and scalable solution to drive improved performance throughout.
