Coatings and speciality products supplier PPG Industries has renewed its long-term supply chain contract with Norbert Dentressangle.

PPG Industries manufactures a range of paints, sealants and coatings products for customers in construction, consumer, industrial and transportation markets, as well as the UK Ministry of Defence. The company has manufacturing facilities around the world, with its UK operations for automotive refinish and aerospace sealants and coatings in Stowmarket, Suffolk, and Shildon, County Durham, respectively. The new 18-month agreement provides a next-day solution that exceeds current regulations for the safe transportation of all goods within the UK and Ireland. Using Norbert Dentressangle's shared user network, most orders are delivered during the day, with a small amount of freight being delivered through the night. Goods are collected and distributed to a combination of aerospace and automotive end users, with 1,600 deliveries made each month on a next-day or timed basis. The logistics company also manages some consignment returns for PPG. Quality, robust service combined with competitive pricing was key for PPG. Shaun Cobbold, PPG's UK logistics contracts manager, said: "We've worked with Norbert Dentressangle for 17 years and the company continues to develop a solution that provides a flexible service without the need for expensive fixed costs." PPG has full visibility of orders and real-time traceability of deliveries using Norbert Dentressangle's SharpNet solution. Consignment details are transferred using an electronic interface for goods despatched from the Stowmarket site.
