Noble Foods plugs into improved productivity with on-board pallet trucks

Egg and dessert distributor Noble Foods has improved efficiency, decreased manual handling and reduced product damage with a fleet of pallet trucks which can be charged on-board its delivery vehicles.

The powered pallet trucks, BT Levio LWE130 models from Toyota Material Handling, enable Noble's drivers to manoeuvre the fragile product loads. The pallet truck's compact size and low weight enables easy transportation and storage, without taking up valuable lorry space – and the on-board charging option means the pallet trucks can be charged between destinations. The LWE130's gel battery and charging system ensures the equipment is only charged while the lorry is moving – plus it always prioritises charging of the lorry's battery to guarantee no loss of power to the delivery vehicle. Mick Tucker from Noble Foods said: "We trialled a number of products and finally decided on the BT Levio LWE130 due to its proven record in this type of application. "We are confident that the product we have chosen will decrease the risks involved in manual handling for our drivers, helping to increase their productivity and with smoother operation of the new powered pallet trucks decrease costs occurred from damaged goods." Noble Foods has taken 21 of the powered pallet trucks on a flexible rental contract to allow for volume fluctuations.
