On-demand PLM (product lifecycle management) software firm Arena Solutions and electronic components distributor Avnet Electronics Marketing are to work together to improve customers’ design- and supply-chain effectiveness.

The pair will sell and market each other’s tools and services so that manufacturers and their suppliers can get integrated on-demand PLM and component content in one bundled solution. Avnet Prómiere offers the leading database of electronic component content in the industry via its content reseller relationship with IHS Parts Management. The combined IHS/Avnet database covers some 19 million electronic components including end-of-lifecycle data, RoHS and environmental regulation information, product change notifications and part specification data. Users will now be able to integrate dynamic content from Avnet Prómiere into their Arena PLM solutions with a single click – ensuring they current data for their design, sourcing and procurement business processes. As manufacturers enter another era in responsible manufacturing and are forced to comply with regulations like RoHS and WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment), it is critical that this content is built into the product record. Through innovations like Avnet and Arena’s combined offering, manufacturers will get immediate access to environmental data they need within the context of the engineering design and BoM (bill of materials) for efficient collaboration and product development.
