For companies that are looking to automate most of their sourcing processes – not just the e-procurement, online bidding and auction stuff – e-sourcing software and services specialist Freemarkets has just announced the release of its latest QuickSource application, with improved RFX (request for information) capabilities. Basically, the new release, QuickSource 5, gives sourcing staff the ability to prepare and respond to requests for information much more quickly than before. How? By simplifying the process using the web to carry out capability questionnaires, quality surveys, supplier audits and document collection all online. Shahriah Broumand, Freemarkets’ General Manager UK and Scandinavia, commented: “Users can now build RFQ [request for quotation] templates and share this information with other staff using a standard web browser.” There’s more though. Because it’s online, users can also enhance the RFP (request for proposal) process by collecting and evaluating price and non-price factors over the web. And, by using custom supplier response templates over the web, the whole process can be streamlined and standardised.
