Pay as you go ERP software “bridges SME technology gap”

Swindon-based software developer Openda has launched a hosted rental ERP system aimed specifically at smaller businesses.

Dubbed QXLite, it’s describes by the company as “the first UK developed, online ERP system for SMEs looking for a single software package to manage all their business functions, at a cost that won’t break the bank.” In fact, there are others – like that from Rent IT, which has been seeing growing and considerable success with manufacturing SMEs for the last couple of years. And Wasp also offers hosted ERP solutions and indeed entire IT and network infrastructures. Nevertheless, Openda says QXLite can provide a sales database for CRM (customer relationship management), quote-based order processing, accounts, purchasing, documentation, inventory control and warehouse stock management. And it will be pretty comprehensive. For the past 10 years Openda has been providing supply chain software to businesses across industry sectors from low cost, high volume plumbing distributors to high spec, lot traceable electronics companies supplying into the MOD and Civil Aviation Authority. Openda suggests that since the system is available online, there’s no major downtime problem during implementation, little requirement for training, and no “complicated installation or expensive licence fees.” Instead, companies pay “a small amount per month per user.” The firm also makes the point that many smaller manufacturers are currently using technology that predates Internet connectivity and a significant number also have out of date distribution systems. Openda is targeting companies with between three and 15 users that want big system facilities on a pay as you go basis.
