PEME has won the 2015 Weetabix Procurement Supplier Award for Innovation for an asset care initiative.

PEME provides Weetabix with an on-site engineering team supporting planned maintenance, mechanical and electrical continuous improvements project installations including design and software support. PEME’s delivery of an onsite project at Weetabix’s Burton Latimer site demonstrated its desire to bring continuous improvement to Weetabix.

The introduction of an asset care regime was in response to an increase in breakdowns in the wheat cleaning plant; this was impacting on production and the operational efficiency on site. PEME took a fast-track approach to mobilise a more appropriate asset care regime, designed to improve reliability on a consistent basis; it also aligned with Weetabix’s maintenance strategy.

Anthony Bowdidge, head of Weetabix procurement, said “Customer service is important no matter where you sit in the value chain. Having great suppliers is as important as having great products. That’s why Weetabix likes to recognise our ‘stand out’ suppliers."
