500m euro seals, joints and couplings manufacturer Burgmann Automotive says that its implementation of MyWorkPLAN job management software, from Sescoi, has transformed the real-time visibility of its production.

Klaus Lange, head of maintenance and toolmaking, says that the company can now see the status of all jobs in the production cycle, monitor costs at every stage, record tooling and special machine requirements, and allocate items to individual cost centres. “We have been actively involved in the ongoing development of MyWorkPLAN,” he says. “Many of our suggestions have been incorporated, plus we can personalise the software to suit our requirements. We are very satisfied indeed with the results, which enable us to quickly find the total costs, based on a breakdown from our cost centres.” Burgmann Automotive now has four seats of MyWorkPLAN used for management, administration and order input, as well as recording production times on the shop floor. The system enables the company to use time and the job information to create delivery notes and continually evaluate performance by cost centre. It also includes tools for filtering and analysing data. Says Lange: “The software is very easy to use and makes it simple for us to measure cost savings and improvements in production.” He says that loading order details into the software reveals detailed technical analysis. “Its structured has resulted in fewer manufacturing stoppages, producing significant cost savings,” he says. “We have better control of order picking for finished and semi-finished parts, visibility of additional operations such as milling or turning, and we can predict the length of outsourced operations more accurately, which results in better on-time delivery performance.”
