Rolls-Royce engines to power new aircraft

Engines from Rolls-Royce are to power 20 new aircraft for Thai Airways International. Trent XWB and Trent 1000 engines will power 12 Airbus A350 XWB and eight Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The aircraft are part of Thai's fleet modernisation programme intended to improve the airline's operational and environmental performance. Thai president Piyasvasti Amranand said the decision to add the Trent engines into the company's fleet demonstrated its commitment to achieve the highest standards of environmental performance. When the engines are delivered, Thai will be an operator of every member of the Rolls-Royce Trent engine family: the 500, 700, 800, 900 – as well as the 1000 and XWB. The Trent family of engines has won about 50 per cent of the widebody aircraft market with a firm order book of more than 2,400 engines.
