Rolls-Royce wins $1.1bn jet engine order

Rolls-Royce is to supply engines worth $1.1bn to power 25 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA).

The airline already has 55 of the aircraft in service or on order, all powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000. The engine powered the first 787 Dreamliner in service with ANA in 2011. Trent 1000s have now completed more than 220,000 in-service flying hours with a claimed engine dispatch reliability of better than 99.9%, said to be the best reliability figures for a wide-body engine on entering airline service.
