SAP to offer business insight at speed of thought

Employees will have the power to understand their businesses and make the right decisions to succeed despite today's economic challenges, says SAP.

It's a proud boast, but at its Sapphire 2009 event in Florida, the software giant said it is revolutionising business intelligence with a new solution that delivers insight at the speed of thought. Dubbed SAP BusinessObjects Explorer, the difference seems to be that it provides a much more intuitive way for business users to gain instant visibility, with analyses hitherto hidden from them. Marge Breya, executive vice president of the Intelligence Platform Group and SAP NetWeaver Solution at SAP, explains that traditionally, too few people have had intuitive and immediate access to the information required to make sound business decisions. Now, however, BusinessObjects Explorer brings together search and navigation capabilities from SAP and BusinessObjects, and adds them to NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator software. That, she says, is the key to enabling users to navigate mountains of business data so fast and so easily. "No longer will critical business information be elusive. SAP BusinessObjects Explorer represents the next generation of BI in which any business user can find the data needed to contribute to his or her organisation's success," said Breya. Katrina Coyle, global information manager at brewing firm Molson Coors, agrees. "We have been beta testing SAP BusinessObjects Explorer and are amazed at how intuitive the software is and how quickly it returns results," she said. "Employees have already learned things about their data and our business that they didn't know. With visualisations, like the interactive 'heat' maps, results leap off the page. One of our business users was able to identify a brand not sold in other regions using only one click." Said Breya: "This new software provides a clear line of sight and enables customers to achieve transparency in every corner of their business. Moving forward, solutions like [this] will help businesses develop a new generation of informed executives, who will drive companies toward a path of greater transparency, growth and competitiveness."
