This significant milestone marks the company’s entry into a new industry, and a new region, developing its portfolio of circular steel.

7 Steel UK: The UK's Largest Low-Carbon Construction Steel Producer

Effective April 14th, Cardiff-based Celsa Steel UK will become 7 Steel UK, whilst Norway’s Celsa Nordic will be rebranded as 7 Steel Nordic. Both entities will now operate under the unified brand of 7 Steel, with an overall annual production capacity of two million tonnes. These steel products, which include bars, sections, mesh, and wires, are predominantly used in the construction industry. Additionally, their steel products are used in the shipbuilding, railway, and wind energy generation sectors.

Focus on Green Steel Production and Sustainability

7 Steel is committed to sustainable practices prioritising environmental responsibility and the circular economy, where materials are reused and repurposed. A key aspect of this commitment is the focus on fully sustainable steel production, which leverages recycled scrap materials. By recycling steel, the group significantly reduces carbon emissions associated with traditional steel manufacturing processes.

7 Steel UK: UK's Largest Recycler of Scrap Steel

7 Steel UK (formerly Celsa Steel UK) is the UK’s leading producer of low-carbon construction steel and the country’s largest recycler of scrap steel. The company’s fully integrated operation encompasses scrap collection, steel production, and fabrication. The business operates one of the UK’s most efficient electric arc furnaces, enabling steel production with 80% lower carbon emissions compared to traditional methods. Its national footprint includes four strategically positioned scrap yards and seventeen fabricator depots across the UK, providing a responsive service to the construction sector. 7 Steel UK has proudly contributed to some of the UK’s most iconic construction projects, including Wembley Stadium, London’s Olympic Park, and The Shard. With an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, seven UK work centres and nearly 2,000 direct jobs generated, 7 Steel UK plays a central role in the UK’s circular economy and sustainable infrastructure delivery.

7 Steel Nordic: Sustainable Steel Across Northern Europe

7 Steel Nordic (formerly Celsa Nordic) is a premier steel producer that provides sustainable reinforcing steel. It operates as a complex group, in more than 15 locations in northern Europe. The group consists of: 7 Steel Manufacturing, the leading producer of reinforcing steel in the Nordic region, with a smelter and a rolling mill in Norwegian Mo i Rana; cut and bend companies 7 Steel Service in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark; and scrap receiver 7 Steel Recycling, operating in Sweden. The most notable projects where environmentally friendly steel was utilised include the innovative Citygate in Sweden, the architecturally striking Kaktus Towers in Denmark, SNØ in Norway, and the Olympic Stadium in Finland.

Green Steel Production Powered by Renewable Energy

7 Steel Nordic recycles steel scrap to produce new steel in an electric arc furnace, using the most sustainable technology available and energy based on renewable hydropower, and aims to start producing reinforcing steel based on hydrogen power in the near future.

Expanding Workforce and Global Reach

The acquisition will also expand the workforce as Sev.en Global Investments integrates an additional 2,700 of the steel companies´ employees. The total number of employees within the Sev.en Global Investments group will double to more than 5,700. Sev.en Global Investments will now focus on the integration of 7 Steel into the portfolio, and the gradual transition and rebranding will take place until the mid-July 2025.
